Trollhaugen Outdoor Recreation Area, WI, yesterday became the third ski area open in North America, and the first to offer chairlift-served skiing and riding.

WHO WANTS FIRST CHAIR We will be OPEN TODAY for some preseason playtime. Bust out those skis & snowboards, and enjoy the rare fall riding with friends new & old, because…why not?!

The Troll opened yesterday, October 19 from 2 pm to 8 pm, with two runs served by a chairlift and a surface lift. Early season conditions are present the resort warned.

“A mid-October opening is not out of the ordinary, but to be able to provide such high-quality snow this early is something that can’t be passed up.”

Two Minnesota ski areas opened on Tuesday, Wild Mountain winning the race to open closely followed by Andes Tower Hills. Wild Mountain had a tow rope turning, and Andes Tower Hills opened its magic carpet.
