Yesterday was one of those days that everyone dreams about at Big Sky Resort, MT. A bluebird powder day. Conditions are currently all-time at the resort, as they have 167% of their average snowpack for this time of year.

“Yesterday was one of those coveted bluebird powder days. We’ve been blessed with all-time November snowfall & are currently at approximately 167% of our average snowpack. Powder Seeker and the Tram opened on opening day and Challenger opened yesterday to incredible conditions!” stated Big Sky Resort, MT on Facebook today.

Big Sky, MT Snow Numbers This Season:

  • 100″ of snowfall
  • 29-49″ snowpack
  • 167% of average snowfall to date

“We are skiing parts of the mountain that aren’t usually skiable until January, and it’s not even December yet,” said Chelsi Moy, public relations manager for Big Sky Resort.

Big Sky was open to the top of Lone Peak on opening day for only the 2nd time in the ski resort’s history.  Even the Big Couloir was open on day 1.
