Today was a very special day on the Palisades at Squaw Valley, CA.
Chimney open – everything on the Palisades open.
The Squaw humans raised their poles to the sky and went huck wild.
All the big lines went down in some very high snow levels.
Pony Express, Chimney Sweep (huge cornice drop right now), Center Line, Easy Street, Draft Rock, Schmidiots, more.
Backflips intoย Main Chute were going down as well.
Outside of the Palisades, Headwall held perfectly smooth, wind-pressed snow that was excellent for high speed confident ripping.
Granite Chief held creamy, perfectly fun snow.
Silverado was ok up top, but funky with coral reef under the new snow down low.
Temperatures stayed just cold enough and the snow in the sun didn’t get cooked until 1pmish. ย Snow in the shade stayed good.
Squaw reported 7″ of new snow this morning.
Today was mostly sunny until about 1pm when some fog rolled in and out.
Today was absolutely, hilariously fun as hell.
Miles your continued fascination with the Palisades, uh, I mean THE CHIMNEY!!!!! Is hilarious.
Look how titled every run in the video. Pure egotism. Not only did you name the run, you had to add THE CHIMNEY when the said run was actually in THE CHIMNEY. All of which are in the Palisades. The Palisades, a couple hundred vertical of way over hyped terrain. Showcase some real Tahoe terrain. You missed the boat on the Baby Cham post, what a waste.
John, guilty as charged. I do love the chimney. Scares the tar out of me every time. Often my scariest runs of the season. So fun… Thanks for the comment and for keeping me honest. Baby Cham was a really neat one. I’ll work on featuring more interesting Tahoe terrain moving forward. Thanks again
