You do not have to be a professional athlete to want to introduce your children to sports at an early age. It seems that children are getting involved in sports at a younger age more and more. It raises the question of what age is too early to introduce children to sports. Is there an age too young for kids to participate in sports? Organized sports are very competitive in youth sports, and parents are getting their children involved at a very young age.
U.S. surfer Kelly Slater holds nearly every significant record in the sport with 11 world titles, 55 event victories, and the record for being both the youngest and oldest men’s world champion. John Decesare, owner of Poor Boyz Productions, Commercial Director of the World Surf League (WSL), Producer of Red Bull Media House, and award-winning filmmaker, shared a video of Slater surfing with his baby on his Instagram Page. Some speculate that it was not actually his baby at all and that it was a baby doll instead.

Slater is considered by many to be the G.O.A.T. at surfing. He claimed his first world title when he was 20 and won his last at 39. He won five consecutive titles in the mid 90’s and four more in 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2011. After a foot injury that kept him out of competitions in 2017 and 2018, he returned in 2019 and won more WSL Championship Tour events. At 47 years old, he narrowly missed out on a place on Team USA’s surfing team and the coveted place in surfing’s debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Slater has been a big part of the growth and popularity of surfing worldwide. In 2015, he also created the artificial wave pool concept, which brought modern wave pool technology to reality. The development has been so successful that top-level competition events are now regularly hosted at his Kelly Slater Surf Ranch in California.
Slater announced that he will retire from surfing next year, hoping to call it quits after the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The 11-time world champion and winner of 55 events has done just about everything in surfing. There is no confirmation whether he was surfing with his baby attached to him, and there will be no question that there will be controversy about that from both sides. However, if you will be safe surfing with anyone, who is better than Slater?
