Nine weeks ago Kai Jones suffered a horrific double knee injury while skiing in the backcountry in Jackson Hole, WY. Kai broke both his knees at the growth plate and both legs required several pins, putting the 17-year-old prodigy in a wheelchair for nine weeks.

Now, nine weeks after the surgery and shortly after his 17th birthday on May 5, Kai shared the following on his Instagram Account: “The best birthday present I could ever ask for. Thanks so much to everyone who has helped me along the way. I can’t explain how amazing it feels to take my first steps after nine weeks in a wheelchair. “It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep on going.”-ROCKY“
We wish him a continued speedy recovery and a lot of patience during the rehab and look forward to seeing him back on skis next season.
