A historical moment The new cable car hovers for the first time on the Zugspitze. Three years of planning and construction will culminate on December 21, 2017 in the maiden voyage of the new Zugspitze cable car. Behind this memorable day is a feat of engineering, before the expectant passengers a panoramic experience in a class of its own. The new cable car can boast three records: 127 meters of the world’s highest steel support for aerial tramways, the world’s largest overall height difference of 1,945 meters in one section and the world’s longest free span of 3,213 meters.
