The words on this screen will never be able to fully describe how gorgeous the mountains were today.

Silver sparkling snowflakes floated down from the heavens.

Baby blue skies backdropped towering white mountains that were poking out from a stormy sea of clouds underneath.

I went solo to Big Cottonwood Canyon today around lunchtime seeking some more low-angle powder.

The snow has been so good this week.

Yesterday’s storm totals leveled out at 10-16″ of new snow in the Canyons according to the Utah Avalanche Center.

Avalanche danger was ranked as considerable today.

The weather was warm and sunny with little to no wind and wildly blue skies.

I felt like I was skiing inside a photoshopped postcard.

I saw on social media that people were hammering the South Face of Mt. Superior today.

But I was happy surfing my dad pow.

I went up a popular drainage known for its tree skiing and hit one lap on a south-facing aspect and another west-facing line through the trees.

Both descents were delicious in terms of snow quality.

I didn’t really notice a difference in how either aspect skied other than it was slightly shallower on the south face.

The powder everywhere was light, low-density snow—it was confidence-inspiring and surfy.

I skied through the meadows and trees with speed and vigor on my fat skis.

I avoided avalanche terrain and just enjoyed myself and the stunning mountain views.

It was a good day to be in the mountains.

But then again—aren’t they all?
