Whitefish Mountain Resort, Montana, announced that it has reopened uphilling at the resort. After assessing terrain conditions, post-holiday visitation and extensive grooming, the East Route opened to uphill traffic Tuesday, January 2, 2023. The resort had decided to pause uphilling at Christmas due to unfavorable snow conditions and increased pressures from holiday visitation. Please keep in mind that  the usual restrictions as stated in the resort’s uphill policy apply.
The Benny Up Route will remain closed to uphill traffic as resort management aims to resume snowmaking efforts there and open additional terrain mountainwide. This of course depends on favorable weather in the coming weeks and months.
Whitefish Mountain Resort is home to two designated uphill routes — the Benny Up Route and the East Route — which are typically open during the resort’s winter operating season. The Benny Up Route has been closed since December 7, 2023, due to warmer-than-average temperatures and lower-than-average snowfall this season.
Please check the resort’s social media channels or website for updates on changes to the uphill policy. Whitefish resort management will regularly assess the situation and will provide updates when this changes.
Whitefish has also announced its program for January:
  • Jan 3rd, 17th, and 31st: Wednesday Night SkiMo League
  • Jan 12th-14th: IFSA Junior Level 2* Regional
  • Jan 20th: The Whitefish Slopestyle
  • Jan 21st: Lady Power Park Hour
  • Jan 27th: Biggie Banks Banked Slalom Series
  • Jan 28th: Tommy Moe Kids Race League (1 or 3)
