Wild Mountain, MN, Opened Yesterday for the Season

Wild Mountain in Minnesota opened for the season yesterday, becoming the second midwest resort to start lifts turning for the winter 23/24 season. The resort intends to remain open daily from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. while conditions allow.

“HERE. WE. GO. ⚡⚡ Wild Mountain will drop the rope on the 23/24 season at 1pm today. Yes, we open for skiing and riding TODAY!

We’ll be open with the Front Stage rope and Front Stage Terrain Park with about 6 terrain park features.

Please keep in mind that these are early-season conditions. Guests should expect bare spots, grass, rocks, thin snow cover, manmade objects and other obstructions.

Tickets are $25 and season passes are accepted (Night Passes begin at 4pm). Locker access and season pass pickup will be available. But, we will not have rentals, food and beverage or lessons available.

We intend to remain open daily from 1pm to 7pm until we open more terrain or the snow melts. 😀

Traditionally the first resort to open in the state the resort was beaten this year by Andes Tower Hills, which opened on Saturday. 

Twice in the previous three years, in 2022 and 2020, Wild Mountain won the race to open and was the first resort in North America to open for the season. The last few years have seen them open on October 18th, 2022, November 15th, 2021, October 19th, 2020, October 29th, 2019, and October 21st, 2018. The earliest the resort has ever opened is October 7th, in 2012. They began snowmaking on September 8th, 2023.

Ski Ward in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, opened its magic carpet for skiing and riding on October 22nd, 2023, making it the first outdoor ski area to open lift-accessed terrain in North America for the season.
