A 20-year-old woman died after reportedly falling 115-feet while scrambling in the Grassi Lakes rock climbing area near Canmore, police said.

According to Alberta Health Services, EMS was called to the far end of Spray Lakes Road, in Kananaskis Country west of Calgary, after reports of an injured climber were called into 911 around 12:45 pm on Saturday, reports CBC.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel assessed an adult female who was pronounced dead on the scene. She was not taken to hospital.

On Sunday, RCMP spokesperson Const. Chantelle Kelly said the woman was scrambling with a friend. Scrambling means to climb up a steep, rough slope using hands and feet.

The woman slipped and slid down the slope for 115-feet, Kelly said. Her fall caused some loose rocks to fall, she said, but no one else was hurt.
