UC Berkeley’s Central Sierra Snow Laboratory located a 6,900′ on Donner Summit, CA just north of Lake Tahoe just recorded the driest summer in recorded history.  Records go back to 1949 – so this was the driest summer in 67 years.

The rainfall on September 22 ended a record 95 days without measurable precipitation here at the Snow Lab. This spanned the entire summer season and is the driest stretch ever recorded at our station. A few seconds of rain sprinkles were observed on August 18 and September 13, but fell far below the measurement resolution (0.25 mm) of our rain gauges.” – Central Sierra Snow Lab
