8 Barrel-Rolls in 30 Seconds | Speed Flying at it’s Rowdiest

SnowBrains |

Speed Flying = is the air sport of flying a small, fast fabric wing, usually in close proximity to a steep slope, sometimes on skis.

This is a relatively dangerous sport.  OK, maybe it’s the most dangerous sport.  You’ll generally see guys flying downslope, occasionally touching down, then gliding to a stop at the bottom of their run with their facial features revealing a huge adrenal glad work out.

That’s how it works if you’re not in Chamonix.  In Cham, you get guys like Martin Schrike who do 8 barrel-rolls in 30 seconds of flight while touching down in some of the most convoluted spots on the mountain.

“It’s important to know that we are training so many hours every year to do that, the goal is to control what we do and not to take any stupid risk 😉 All the best!!” – Martin Schrike

This stunt took place on the North Face of the Auguille du Mid in Chamonix, France and it thoroughly impressed us.  Stay safe Martin.

What’s next for this sport?  This seems about as far as it can go…
