Mother Nature has been working overtime in Girdwood, Alaska, and there are no signs of stopping. Alyeska Resort has already received 58 FEET of snow this winter and expects more this week.

With over 700″ of snow coating the mountain this season, nearly all the runs are open and filled in from wall to wall. With sunny conditions and great visibility this last week, the side hits are popping up left and right, offering fun features and playful alternatives for top-to-bottom laps.

With the passing of the Spring Equinox on March 19, there’s also plenty of daylight this time of year up North. Right now, there is over 14 hours and seven minutes of daylight, which means its days are officially longer than those of the lower 48.

With the gradual warming temperatures and ample sunshine, the skiing and riding have been excellent. Overnight temperatures have remained below freezing, allowing for a firm base in the morning—with fast conditions. However, as the day progresses and temperatures rise, expect the snow to soften and become more forgiving, providing excellent carving and jibbing conditions.

Almost all the trails at Alyeska are open. The grooming team has worked hard to maintain the trails, ensuring smooth surfaces and enjoyable skiing experiences. While most runs are in great shape, some higher elevation trails may have firmer conditions early in the day, softening up as the sun warms them throughout the day.

There are three different terrain parks at Alyeska Resort. All three are open and feature a variety of features suitable for all skill levels—from experts to novices. From beginner-friendly jumps and boxes to more advanced rails and features, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The park crew has been regularly updating and maintaining the features, providing riders with a fun and safe environment to practice their skills.
