In a recent press release, Heavenly announced that they would be opening the California Lodge on opening day โ something they haven’t done in over a decade. Come November 20, Heavenly plans to not only have lifts running, but also allow access to much of the California side of the resort. This is, of course, snow-permitting.
Heavenly stated in their press release that this decision is โA revised opening approach [that] will provide pass holders with more early-season skiable terrain โ and the ability to open additional terrain faster, as well as free and convenient parking in the California Lodge Base area.โ
Furthermore, Heavenly stated that this “revised opening approach” will be a way to give thanks to season pass holders. Heavenly is not planning on selling lift tickets until December 8, thus pass-holders will be the only ones with access to the resort from November 20-December 8.
According to the resort, riders can expect the following lifts to be operational by opening day: Gunbarrel Express, Powderbowl Express, Canyon Express, and Patsyโs chairlift. The gondola will be closed for skiing access during the early season, however, it will remain open for sight-seeing.
Heavenly would also like to remind all visitors to please make a reservation before coming to ski or ride this winter. Their press release states, โAs a reminder, all guests must make a reservation in advance, wear face coverings, and be prepared to follow all safety protocols. These core measures will help us stay safe, open, and remain open, and enjoy an amazing South Tahoe winter.โ
