PHOTOS: Arapahoe Basin, CO Began Winter 2019/20 Yesterday with Savage Last Minute Announcement!

When Keystone, CO announced yesterday they would open for the season on Saturday 12th October, it was assumed the Epic resort had won the #RaceToOpen, beating Arapahoe Basin and Loveland over the line.

But Ikon resort A-Basin was having none of that. In a savage last-minute twist, they announced within an hour that they would open later that day, on Friday 11th October.

They had the lifts turning from 3:30 pm until 5:30 pm, and despite the short notice, there was a line of eager shredders ready to make their first turns of winter 2019/20.

BOOM! And just like that, the North American ski season is underway…
