Squaw Valley 2014/15 Highlight Video: If you happen to be in the middle of making a season edit this year please stop what you are doing right now, because you are simply not going to beat this one. Even though it was the fourth drought winter in a row for Squaw Valley I still some how managed to have fun. And it wasn’t because of the world class grooming, five star restaurants, and the family friendly atmosphere Squaw Valley has to offer. Wait, maybe it was all those ads of Amie Engerbretson sparking arcs with that big smile of hers that really motivated me. […] Guest Author | May 18, 2015 3 Comments

“Street” | Mello Yello Urban Edit Josh Wong and I (Birrion Sondahl) both live in Summit County, Colorado and have devoted much of our time to skiing urban features. While many people consider urban skiing to simply being “doing hoodrat stuff,” the reality of it is that it takes a lot more time and effort than filming a simple park edit. Our latest edit, which we have simple entitled “Street”, was filmed over a period of several weeks this March in Conifer, Silverthorne, and Denver, CO. In it, we hit our first urban wall ride. Mt. Shasta Conditions Report: Weโve had some great trips this Spring. Greg and Jacob were able to ski guide the Trinity Chutes with Luke who was especially stoked to ski this line. Nick Caselli has been eager to get out on the rock and led Steve on the mega-classic Cosmic Wall in Castle Crags State Park. This alpine gem is a true adventure climb and a route we love in Northern California. With summit climbs, ski trips, rock outings, and more there is no shortage of fun to be found in and around Mt. Shasta. We love this time of year, with great snow remaining the climbing will be good on the south […] Conditions Report Guest Author | May 4, 2015 0 Comments
Eastern Sierra Nevada, CA Conditions Report: Welcome to the High Sierra Alpine Conditions Report! This is the first one of 2015, transitioning early from the Backcountry Snow Report for skiers and snowboarders which we will not be updating further this season, courtesy of โthe big dryโ (the biggest drought on record in California). The drought is a bane for almost everyone, and we should all be a lot more concerned than we seem to be, but it does represent a boon for alpine rock climbers and backpackers, who will likely enjoy one of the longest snow-free seasons in memory. […] Conditions Report Guest Author | April 20, 2015 0 Comments
Trip Report: Big Weather in Tuckerman’s Ravine, NH After a long, cold and mostly awesome winter, spring is advancing in full force across New England. Approaches are starting to melt out, sunscreen is appearing in my pack, and I even spotted golf clubs in the corner of the gear room the other day. This means the time has come for the annual pilgrimage to the Presidential Range as the calendar turns to April. Three days of exploring, climbing and sliding through the Washington weather show – and mother nature […] Guest Author | April 19, 2015 0 Comments
Mt. Shasta Conditions Report: 2-Feet of New Snow There is one truth is backcountry skiing; you better enjoy the up. Youโre going to spend the majority of your day skiing uphill and a fraction of the time ripping turns and blasting pow on the way down. And if weโre being totally transparant, the skiing conditions can be a veritable mixed bag, from all time epic to challenging crusts that test the hardiest of skiers. Such was our day. We had high hopes, 2 feet of new snow, the temps were staying cool, the sun was out and all of Northern California and Southern Oregon converged on Mt. Shasta; from Tahoe refugees to storm chasing […] Conditions Report Guest Author | April 9, 2015 0 Comments
