Palisades Tahoe, CA, announced yesterday that the first cabins on the brand-new Base to Base Gondola are up.

Our first cabins on the Base to Base Gondola are up! Things are taking shape quickly around here and both the Base to Base and Red Dog are on track for a early to mid-December opening 🙌🏻

The Base to Base Gondola is scheduled to open in December of the 2022-2023 season and will connect the two valleys of the resort. The project, estimated to cost $65 million, will make Palisades Tahoe the third-largest ski area in North America.

A realization of the founders’ original vision, the Base to Base Gondola offers newfound convenience and accessibility to the resort’s 6,000 acres and a full spectrum of lifts, terrain, dining venues, and more. The 16-minute Base to Base ride will offer scenic views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains, easy transit between the resort’s two base areas, and lift access for expert skiers and snowboards to the top of KT-22.

  1. Let us prey that it goes better than the test run on the Funitel lift. These lift designers might have been smoking some of the whacky tobbacky when they installed the first tower too low and annihilated the first Funitel when it hit the rocks at the first crest. It took them another 2 months to dynamite the mountain so the cars would clear the crest. Don’t count your cabins, until they have actually made the full circle. SHEEEEESH
