Black Bear Crosses Runners at Leadville, CO Trail Marathon Last Weekend

As if running up and down mountains, at 10,000-feet for 26-miles wasn’t tough enough, imagine the shock these Leadville Trail Marathon runners got on Saturday when a black bear crossed their paths.

Quentin Genke snapped this photo about 2-hours into his run, just before the beast disappeared back into the woods.

“First time I ever had a black bear come out of the woods and run between runners,” Quentin Genke wrote on Facebook.
