Boreal ski resort in Lake Tahoe, California has already been making snow.  They made their first snow on September 27th, 2013.  They hope to continue doing so as much as possible the next 30 days.  They’re hoping to open by October 26th, 2013.  We hope mother nature cooperates.
Boreal is almost always the first ski resort to open in California.  Boreal’s higher base at 7,200-feet is a hugely helpful in acquiring the cold temperatures needed for snowmaking this early in the season.
Boreal received its first snow of the 2013/14 on September 21st then another snowfall on September 26th.
The current forecast doesn’t look to helpful in the low temperature department but, hopefully things will begin to cool off more next week.  There’s no snow in the current forecast either…
