Last week saw a couple of Colorado resorts start their lifts turning for the season, with more probably not far behind. Although some California ski resorts received their first snow in September, they haven’t yet seen the quantity that Colorado, Wyoming, and especially Montana has seen.

But fear not! Opening day for Californian ski areas is not far away, be patient and you’ll soon be shredding. If you really want to count down the days, here are the opening days for resorts…

  • Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe (yep, Nevada, we know…) – Oct. 25
  • Boreal Mountain Resort – Nov. 8
  • Mammoth Mountain – Nov. 9
  • Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows – Nov. 15
  • Big Bear Mountain Resort – Nov. 15 for Snow Summit and Nov. 22 for Bear Mountain
  • Heavenly Lake Tahoe and Northstar California – Nov. 22
  • Mountain High Resorts – Nov. 22
  • Kirkwood Mountain Resort – Nov. 27
  • China Peak – Nov. 28
  • Sugar Bowl – Nov. 29
  • Sierra-at-Tahoe plans to open mid-November
  • Snow Valley Mountain Resort plans to open late November

  • Diamond Peak Ski Resort – Dec. 12
  • Badger Pass Ski Area – Dec. 20
  • Tahoe XC Ski Area plans to be open December through April; Tahoe Donner Cross Country plans to open Nov. 28

There you have it, not long to wait at all, you’ll be tits-deep before you even know it…
