Las Lenas ski resort in Argentina just got their first significant snowfall of the 2014 winter season on May 1st, 2014.  It appears that they got about a foot of at the base and there is likely about 3 feet of snow up top.
It’s only early May right now and Las Lenas generally doesn’t open until late June or so. Â Will all this snow melt away before the next snowfall? Â Definitely. Â Freezing levels are going to be above 12,000 feet most of the coming week.
Nevertheless, this is a very fun sign of the coming winter. Â Just looking at Lenas this covered in snow is enough to give any snow freak a very nasty snow itch.
Early snow can mean weak snowpack…. Look at the whole west this year.
