Most days at SnowBrains are about the thing we love: snow — and everything that goes hand-in-hand with it. However, sometimes, we, as editors, must make tough decisions about which stories we publish. Reporting on incidents with fatalities is the most difficult decision, and often we pass on stories when we feel there is no added value in reporting on these unfortunate deaths. We like to focus on those where something can be learned to help prevent these deaths.

This week, reports reached us about two teenagers who died in Copper Mountain Ski Resort in an unfortunate accident. We deliberated reporting on it but opted not to. However, since then, we have been approached by representatives of the family about a fundraiser in honor of these two boys,  Dylan Bazzell and Drew Fehr. The Illinois teenagers were only 17 and 18 years old.

We feel compelled to pass on the details about this fundraiser in memory of Dylan Bazzell & Drew Fehr to our readers.

“The boys made their hometown of Fairbury, IL incredibly proud,” reads the GoFundMe created by Danny Schahrer. “Drew was an all-state football player, and Dylan, an all-state basketball player; celebrating their high achievements in basketball at their banquet just four days before their death. The entire town of Fairbury is grieving this tragic loss. The money raised from this will go directly toward creating a memorial for Dylan and Drew.”
