Winter sports can be expensive to get into, but H&M Move has just dropped its new Snow Collection, bringing a lot of affordable high-tech gear to the market. H&M Move hasn’t always been known for its outwear and involvement in snow sports, but its inventory has become quite impressive for winter athletes, with more on the way shortly. On both November 9 and December 28, 2023, right in time for the holidays, H&M Move’s new Snow Collection will drop on its website.

The new collection features everything from base layers to coats, pants, and bibs in sizes for both men and women. H&M Moves’s goal with this drop is to maintain an affordable price point on their gear to make winter sports more accessible for everyone without compromising function or fashion. Each of the new products includes H&M Move’s trademarked fabric innovations for performance:

  • The windproof, waterproof, and breathable StormMove™
  • The heat-retaining ThermoMove™
  • The quick-drying and moisture-wicking DryMove™

Right on time with our season kicking off here in Colorado, as both Arapahoe Basin and Keystone are now open, H&M Move sent me a jacket and bib to test out before the collection dropped. Right off the bat, there were a few great things I noticed. First, the StormMove 3L Jacket has a pass pocket near the left forearm area, which to me, is a super under-appreciated asset when it comes to resort riding. No jacket I’ve ever owned has had this feature, but I have always admired those who don’t have to make a fuss when getting their passes scanned in lift lines. In regards to the StormMove 3L Bib Pants, they are a straightforward, very solid design that is everything a snow bib should be; the chest pocket, belt buttons, and boot cuffs give them a sturdy feel, and they provide the warmth of an extra layer and the freedom of movement at the same time.

I got to ride with all of my new gear on at Keystone today, and my takeaway is that I will continue to ride in my new H&M Move. Not only do I love the style of the new kit, but I felt great throughout the day in varying temperatures as I decided to layer the StormMove Bib with the Jacket. The morning was colder, with most of the mountain being tucked into the shade, but my body felt nice and warm. Once the sun really came out, I pivoted to the hike-park where I worked up a nice sweat, but I never felt too hot with the jacket on. Additionally, the Jacket and Bib both have ventilation systems that quickly provide much-needed relief in times like these. It is worth noting that throughout the day, I did not notice anything restrictive or uncomfortable with my new H&M Move gear. The two pieces complement each other very well and can essentially be paired with any combination of base layers or sweatshirts over the course of the season.

Previous H&M Move outwear drops, including the StormMove™ 2.5-layer Shell Jacket, provide comparable function and fashion to the new drop, and are priced similarly to what their new Snow Collection offers. Most brands that produce high-quality outwear strictly focus on outwear, so it is refreshing to see a big-name brand like H&M Move dip into a new space while doing so properly. In reference, Mfon Boman, H&M Move’s Outdoor Product Manager, recently stated:

“By introducing performance wear that balances function with highly fashionable snow gear, we want to inspire everyone to hit the mountains. Given the level of detailing and high-quality materials, this collection is taking our snow sports segment to the next level.”

With its new Snow Collection, H&M is encouraging people to get outside through an affordable price point with no compromise on performance. I am thoroughly impressed with H&M Move’s new gear, and when you look at the price point, compared to other name brands that will run you several hundreds or even thousands of dollars for a full kit, it becomes that much better. The bib and jacket I received have all of the desirable zippers, pockets, and features found on their more expensive counterparts and kept my body temperature at a nice level while riding. This collection drops right in time for the gift-giving season and is a fantastic idea for any skier, snowboarder, or outdoor winter enthusiast.
