Lindsey Vonn continues to dominate the World Cup this season.  She won yet another World Cup downhill on Saturday in Germany and finished 3rd in the Super G today.

Lindsey smashed the downhill competition yesterday winning by over 1.5 seconds.  It was her largest margin of downhill victory this season.  This was Lindsey’s 9th World Cup win this season, her 38th downhill career win (the most wins in a specific division by any woman ever), and it was her 76th career World Cup race win (the most World Cup race wins by any woman ever).

Lindsey is now only 10 wins away from Ingemar Stenmark’s ‘s record 86 world cup wins.  She currently holds the women’s record for World Cup wins at 76  with the next closest woman having 63.

“It was a great day!  Every day is a new chance to break my own record, which is kind of weird to say, but it still makes it exciting. Every win for me is more special than the last. And my dad is here, so it’s really special.” – Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey maintains her overall World Cup lead over Switzerland’s Lara Gut who finished 14th in downhill and 1st in Super G this weekend.  Lindsey leads the overall points standing by 87 points.

As per usual this season, the course was rough and the light was bad.

“It was definitely a lot different today than it was in the training run, pretty much a totally different course.  It was definitely bumpy … and very flat light in some sections.”

“I could see that there where some problems.  There were some bumps, and the problem is that the bumps were right in the compressions, and also where there were shadows, so you couldn’t really see anything.

“It was definitely bumpy … and very flat light in some sections.  I was able to execute it well in the right places, and carry my speed through the whole course.” – Lindsey Vonn said of the downhill

Congrats, Lindsey!
