NOAA: 1st Accumulating Snowfall Forecast for Alaska | 6″+ of Snow

NOAA’s Alaska branch just announced that they’re expecting the first accumulating snowfall for Alaska tomorrow and tomorrow night. This storm will affect a very large area of Alaska, will drop up to 6″ of snow or more in the higher elevations and will have snow levels as low as sea level by tomorrow night. “REGARDLESS…EVEN THE POTENTIAL FOR SUCH AN EARLY SEASON ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL IS SOMEWHAT RARE. Over a Foot of New Snow Fell in Alaska Yesterday!

The Chugach Range in Alaska got over a foot of fresh snow above 5,000-feet last night in spots. The Wrangell Mountains got a healthy dose of snow as well this week. Winter has officially begun in the great state of Alaska. Yesterday we found over a foot of fresh snow above 5000′ in the Crow Pass area. “This year was a bit different. Some of the hardest decisions of my skiing life were made this year. I set out on a different path, into uncharted territory. Seeking new horizons, new approaches and new mountains, it provided me with some of the biggest challenges I’ve dealt with and because of that, some of the greatest experiences.
