Mammoth Mountain, California, will be opening the top of the mountain from tomorrow, December 1, 2023. The resort shared the exciting news on their Instagram channel, stating:

“Cold temperatures this week allowed for solid snowmaking. Hard work from our snowmakers and Cat Crew is the right formula to expand TOP-TO-BOTTOM. Tomorrow 12/1 the Upper Panorama Gondola will open for ⛷️ and 🏂 with access to Cornice Bowl and Road Runner. Please note that Cornice Bowl is advanced terrain and early season conditions may be encountered.

Skiing and riding continues out of Main Lodge and The Mill (Chair 2). Broadway (1), Stump Alley (2), Face Lift (3), Unbound (6), Discovery (11) and the Panorama Gondola are all expected with access to 20+ trails and 2 terrain parks.

We continue to blow snow and will open up more terrain access as conditions allow.”

Mammoth Mountain opened the ski season on November 10, 2023, but terrain has been limited due to only having received 14 inches of snow so far this season. While that’s nothing to sneeze at, we are of course all spoiled from last season, when the resort saw a staggering 61 inches in November alone. The resort has been expanding their offerings every week and last weekend snow tubing at Woolly’s Adventure Summit opened. Keep doing those snow-dances, folks!
