Mountain Capital Partners (MCP) has agreed to become the majority owner of Valle Nevado, Chile, reports Ski Area Management.

Valle Nevado will join MCP’s portfolio, which also features Brian Head Resort, UT, Purgatory, CO, and Arizona Snowbowl, among others. Valle Nevado is the company’s eleventh resort (ten ski and one bike, and the first one outside the US.

“Our company purpose, Give People the Freedom to Ski, truly knows no boundaries, and I couldn’t be more proud to introduce our vision to South America. I’ve been bringing friends and family to Valle Nevado for years, and I love the incredible beauty, the amazing people, and the unparalleled skiing that this resort offers.”

– MCP managing partner James Coleman

Coleman added that MCP is committed to “maintaining and elevating Valle Nevado’s reputation as the premiere ski resort destination on the continent” and that details of investment in the resort will be announced in the future. In the last seven years, MCP has invested more than $65 million in its ski areas and bike parks, including new chairlifts, trails, snowmaking, and other capital projects.

Valle Nevado is on the Ikon Pass and the Mountain Collective Pass.

Valle Nevado, located just 90 minutes from Santiago, offers access to 7,000 acres of terrain, including 40,000 acres of terrain accessed through its world-class heli-ski program. With three hotels, private condominium rentals, six restaurants, shopping, and a fitness & spa center, Valle Nevado offers the complete ski experience in Chile. Given the resort’s altitude and orientation, on average, Valle Nevado receives more snow than any other South American ski resort. An EST time zone and direct flights from most major US hubs make the resort a cinch to get to, and a new, top-of-the-line fleet of rental ski and snowboard gear allows international travelers to leave bulky equipment behind.

Valle Nevado remains the top summer ski-training destination for national and World Cup teams from countries as diverse as Austria, Norway, the USA, and Canada, so you can expect to see some of the most famous faces in the world of skiing and snowboarding at the resort.
