One of the top resorts in the Pacific Northwest, Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon, has announced it will extend its season through May this year. The entire mountain will be open to the public seven days a week until April 28. After this, it will start a partial operation. ‘Meadows’ as locals call it, will be open Friday- Sunday through May 17 and 18. The resort will have a pond skim on May 4, which also marks a compacting of hours of operation  starting from May 5. At this time, operations will shift to an 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. schedule. For these days, the resort will only open the new Mt. Hood Express, Cascade, and Buttercup chairs. There will be limited food and beverage as well as lesson offerings. This is an exciting announcement and means skiers and riders from the Mt. Hood area can enjoy an extended spring season at the resort that offers Mt. Hood’s most challenging and varied terrain.

Mt. Hood Meadows has previously closed around mid to late April, due to snow levels. At the end of the 22-23 season, they had enough snow to stay open longer, but needed to clear snow to make way for the construction of their new 6-pack Mt. Hood Express chair. Through an Instagram post, the resort announced that because of heavy snowfall in February, it would be able to stay open for longer than normal.  Since having owned a season pass there for over 5 years, this is the longest the resort has stayed open in recent memory, although the resort has made it all the way to July before.

The resort aims to pay respect to its season pass holders, since the start of the season was far from ideal, due to no fault on behalf of the resort of course. While in Oregon this past December, Meadows was piecing together the resort with limited terrain options and a shallow snowpack that was constantly being affected by rain. According to President Greg Pack, the resort is excited to make this announcement early, so families can plan their spring trips to Meadows. The resort expects travelers from all across the U.S. with the Indy Pass to show up for some famous Mt. Hood spring skiing.
