The Natural Selection Tour is set to break new ground with its first-ever human-powered DUEL, featuring snowboarding legend Bjorn Leines and British Columbia’s rising star Brin Alexander. The event will take place at evo’s Journeyman Lodge in Callaghan Valley, British Columbia, with action premiering February 24 on Red Bull TV.
In this unique format, both competitors will hike to the top of the terrain entirely under their own power before showcasing their skill on the descent. Their performance will determine the winner, based on their creativity, technique, and command of the challenging backcountry.
“This DUEL is set to be a doozy,” the Natural Selection Tour shared on Instagram. “In Natural Selection Tour’s first ever foot-powered DUEL (yes, you read that right), the legend himself Bjorn Leines will be taking on the future face of British Columbia backcountry boarding, Brin Alexander…It’s set to be an absolute barn burner in BC.”
Bjorn Leines, a renowned figure in the snowboarding community, has spent decades influencing the sport. He plays a leading role at Cardiff Snowcraft, a Utah-based snowboard company known for its high-performance splitboards. Leines’ extensive backcountry experience and history of progressive riding make him a strong contender in this face-off.
Brin Alexander, representing the next generation of freeriders, has steadily built a reputation in British Columbia’s rugged backcountry. His smooth riding style and familiarity with local terrain make him a serious challenger against the seasoned veteran. The DUEL winner will earn a spot at the highly anticipated Yeti Natural Selection Revelstoke, taking place from March 10 to 17. Revelstoke will then bring together some of the world’s best snowboarders, competing on a legendary big-mountain stage.
