New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has given ski resorts the green light to open for the winter amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.
From November 6th, ski resorts can open with a 50% capacity limit for indoor areas and patrons must also socially distance when skiing to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Other requirements are:
- Patrons must wear masks except while eating, drinking, or skiing
- Gondolas and lifts are limited to carrying people within the same party
- Ski lessons can have no more than 10 people
- Capacity must be reduced by 25% on peak skiing days or if multiple trails are closed because of weather conditions
Cuomo went on to add that New York has the best skiing in the United States of America, not Aspen, CO, or Wyoming, citing many significant professionals who say that skiing in New York is better than anywhere else in the country.

If you ski in New York, not only do you have the best skiing in the county, but you don’t have to quarantine when you come back! Go ski in one of these other states, then you have to go quarantine for 14-days. Ski for 2, quarantine for 14.

The news came a day after Cuomo announced movie theaters could open, with limitations, in most of the state.
New York has had 484,281 confirmed Covid-19 cases and 33,357 deaths.
