NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Lake Tahoe, CA/NV that is calling for 3-9″ of snow above 7,000′ today.
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches, except 3 to 9 inches above 7000 feet and localized amounts of a foot along the Sierra crest. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph with ridge gusts to 100 mph at times. - NOAA, Reno NV, 12/22/19
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10am today until 10pm today.
This will be the perfect refresh for the ski resorts and backcountry of Lake Tahoe.
Please be safe if you’re traveling over the Sierra Nevada mountains today.
Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort has already seen 142″ of snowfall this season.

10 PM PST THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 5 inches,
except 3 to 9 inches above 7000 feet and localized amounts of a
foot along the Sierra crest. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph
with ridge gusts to 100 mph at times.
* WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area.
* WHEN...From 10 AM this morning to 10 PM PST this evening.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult, especially considering
the increased holiday travel expected today. Very strong winds
could cause tree damage.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Even light snowfall causes major travel delays, especially during
periods of high traffic volume. Be sure to allow extra time to
reach your destination. Leave extra space between vehicles since
it takes longer to stop on slick roadways.
