Throwback Thursday: The 1980 Nordic Valley, UT, Summer Ski Aerials

SnowBrains |

Summer aerial ski jumping into water in 1980 at Nordic Valley near Ogden, UT. Participants include Frank (Frankie) Bare, Steve Rezendez, Rick Nelson, John Eaves, Craig Peterson, Robert Young, and Rick Nelson.

The backlight and speed of rotation makes it too difficult to positively ID all jumpers. Some of the spectators include Ed Goulais, Greg “Crasher” Motschenbacher, Jim Moultrup and Tony Weaver.

This was the first world-class water ramp in Utah.

The name Nordic Valley changed to Wolf Mountain Ski Resort in in 2005, when it was acquired by Wolf Creek Golf Resort. In 2019, the ski area was acquired by Mountain Capital Partners, who changed the name back to Nordic Valley as it sometimes was confused with Wolf Creek Ski Area.
