Palisades Tahoe, CA, is excited to officially announce the name of the new Palisades Tahoe Base to Base Gondola. The Base to Base Gondola is scheduled to open for the 2022-2023 season and will finally connect the two valleys of the resort, making Palisades Tahoe one of the largest ski resorts in North America.

A realization of the founders’ original vision, the Base to Base Gondola offers newfound convenience and accessibility to the resort’s 6,000 acres and a full spectrum of lifts, terrain, dining venues, and more. The Base to Base ride will offer scenic views of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada mountains, easy transit between the resort’s two base areas, and lift access for expert skiers and snowboards to the top of KT-22.

The Palisades Tahoe team has launched a website to share more about the Base to Base Gondola experience, which includes a video, map, statistics, and frequently asked questions: https://gondola.palisadestahoe.com/experience.

  1. This will be Awesome! I remember the Mammoth Mountain monorail, it was only servicing the parking lot back then, but when finished it was going to connect the town of Mammoth to the ski area. Did they finish it yet? You can bet that everyone will be doing the base to base. Where else in the world can you take a gondola from parking lot to another? This will really help with crowds and getting all the Japanese tourist to the McConkey’s lookout. Palisades Tahoe is making all the right moves.

  2. It also doubles as employee housing at night too dontcha know.
so it serves such multipurposely as the corporate dweebs at Alterra, Rustry Gregorgy included, won’t have to spend a penny on much needed employee housing. So they got that goin for em now too.

  3. hah…this thing doesn’t event get you to the top of a run? So it’s for non skiers? Guess it will look good in the brochure rack at a motel

  4. I wonder if they are going to have Brad Holmes BASE jump from the Base to Base? They let him BASE jump the cable car already. That would be crazy to watch.

  5. base to base is the clever name you took this long to come up with? you folks really are idiots. no one ever wanted this, except alterra. different cultures, different mountains. it will always be squaw and alpine meadows. go away real estate brokers!
