With the 2023 World Championships wrapping up in France earlier this week, World Cup skiers are headed stateside to Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley, CA, this weekend for the Stifel Palisades Tahoe Cup. As one of four domestic World Cups in the U.S. this season, most in history, the home of the 1960 Olympic Winter Games will welcome back its athletes and spectators for the second time since 2017.

Having raced the course in 2017 for the women’s alpine event, Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin described it as “one of, if not the toughest” course venues on the women’s World Cup circuit.

In addition to the races, there’s a strong lineup of events set for the weekend, including international sensation Noah Kahan, American rock band 311, and Black Jacket Symphony feat. Marc Matel. New to the event calendar is the Visa Lounge, where U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s longstanding partner will host the first-ever multi-day interactive lounge at a men’s FIS Alpine World Cup, including panels, athlete autograph signings, and more.

  • Event sold out grandstands almost immediately and expecting a record crowd!
  • On-site activation surrounding new Heroic initiative – a movement celebrating and empowering women in skiing and snowboarding – which will include a panel, featuring:
    • Sophie Goldschmidt – U.S. Ski & Snowboard President & CEO
    • Julia Mancuso – Olympic champion alpine skier
    • Devin Logan – Olympic silver medalist freeskier
    • Andrea Fairchild – SVP of Global Sponsorship Strategy at Visa
    • Heather Schwartz – SOS Outreach Program Manager
  • In addition, there will be another panel featuring alpine skiing Tahoe legends:
    • Julia Mancuso – Olympic champion alpine skier
    • Marco Sullivan – 4x Olympian
    • Tamara McKinney – Overall World Cup title winner

SnowBrains will have a reporter on the ground over the weekend at Palisades Tahoe. Stay tuned for World Cup updates.
