PARK CITY, Utah – Nov. 15, 2023 – Park City Mountain is excited to announce that it will ring in the 2023/24 winter season on Friday, November 17. This winter marks 60 years since the ski area first opened as Treasure Mountains in December of 1963, and opening day will kick off a season-long celebration of six decades of history with DJs in both base areas and warm beverages and donuts for early arrivers.

“Following on the record-breaking 2022/23 season – my first back at Park City as the leader of the resort – I can’t wait to see what this year brings,” said Deirdra Walsh, Vice President and COO of Park City Mountain. “We are looking forward to creating incredible experiences every day and to sharing the excitement of our 60th anniversary with our guests, employees and the community. Our entire Park City Mountain team has been working hard to prepare, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the 2023/24 season!”
The resort is on track to open with its typical opening package, having taken advantage of intermittent cold weather and natural snow since late October. We will continue snowmaking operations and monitor the weather to expand terrain offerings in the coming weeks. For opening day, we plan to offer a total of 6 trails served by lifts out of both base areas: First Time, Payday and Mine Cart (carpet) out of the Mountain Village base area and Cabriolet, Red Pine Gondola, Saddleback, High Meadow, Sweet Pea (carpet) out of the Canyons Village base area.
What’s New This Season?
60th Anniversary
Park City Mountain opened on December 21, 1963. Throughout the 2023/24 season, Park City will celebrate its rich history from its mining roots to its Olympic legacy to the world-class ski and snowboard destination that Park City is today with on-mountain activations and special events, including a 60th anniversary party with a headliner concert, drone show and more. More details on the anniversary party will be announced soon.
Signature Events
The 60th-anniversary party is just one of a series of signature events at Park City this winter season. The holidays will bring lights, fun and cheer to visitors and locals alike in Park City with the annual Tree Lighting celebration at Canyons Village and Santa’s annual trip down Town Lift. The signature Snowfest holiday celebration returns as well, spanning from mid-December through the New Year with music, base area activities, caroling, ice sculptures and more. The multi-day QUEERSKI returns in February with a pride parade, base camp connection areas, happy hours and more. And spring will be enlivened once again with the signature Spring Grüv celebration in March, featuring live music, pond skimming and spring skiing and sunshine galore. Investments in the Guest Experience
The replacement of all cabins on Red Pine Gondola has been completed for the 2023/24 season. Guests will enjoy the view as they’re transported from the Canyons Village base area to mid-mountain near Red Pine Lodge. The new cabins feature floor-to-ceiling windows to give skiers and riders a 360-degree view as they head up the mountain for their day on the slopes. Park City Mountain’s five-star grooming gets a boost this season with the addition of four new PistenBully snowcats to the grooming fleet. Three of the new snowcats are designed to support terrain parks while the fourth is designed to groom steeper runs.
Elevated Dining & Après
Enjoy elevated on-mountain dining across Park City Mountain this winter with new featured dishes at all on-mountain restaurants – including the return of the Legacy salad bar at Legacy Lodge, ahi poke bowl at Mid Mountain Lodge, chicken parm sandwich and cheesesteaks at Summit House, chicken pot pie at Miners Camp, Cloud Dine turkey Rachel at Cloud Dine, meatball sub at Red Pine Lodge, and taco salad at Sun Lodge. Connect with friends slopeside at the recently expanded après patio at the Red Tail Grill, adjacent to Canyons Village ski beach or at the lively Umbrella Bar in the Canyons Village Forum. Après at the Airstream returns once again to Canyons Village, offering a lively après near the Orange Bubble Express on select weekends.
The Gondola Gallery by Epic
Park City Mountain is proud to be part of the Gondola Gallery by Epic this season. The Gondola Gallery by Epic is an outdoor art installation that celebrates the unique backgrounds of skiers and snowboarders. Local Park City artist Lamont Joseph White was commissioned to create original artwork that will wrap cabin #1 on the Quicksilver Gondola for the 2023/24 season. UPLIFTED by Lamont Joseph White is inspired by the concept of joy and community. Lamont’s artwork will also adorn the walls of Miner’s Camp this winter season.
Arrivals & Parking
Parking reservations will be required in surface lots at the Mountain Village base area beginning December 9. Reservations will be free for all vehicles Dec. 9-15, and free every day of the season for vehicles with 4 or more occupants. Reservations for vehicles with 3 or fewer occupants will be paid December 16-April 1. Free parking is available at the Canyons Village base Cabriolet Lot, Park City High School (on weekends and holidays), and High Valley Transit Park-n-Ride locations. Mobile Pass & Mobile Lift Ticket on the My Epic App
Skip the ticket line with Mobile Pass & Mobile Lift Ticket on the new My Epic app! The new technology will allow guests to buy their pass or lift ticket online, activate and store in on their phone in the new My Epic app, put their phone in their pocket, and get scanned, hands free, via Bluetooth technology designed for low energy usage. Plastic cards will continue to be available to any guests who cannot or do not want to use their phone as their pass or lift ticket. Operations
Park City Mountain will be open daily for the 2023/24 season 9:00 am-4:00 pm starting November 17. All chairlifts and on-mountain dining establishments are planned to open and operate based on snowfall and conditions, and in a manner consistent with standard operations.
Uphill travel for non-motorized use on Homerun from the bottom of First Time Lift up to the Angle Station is allowed from 6:00 pm-8:30 am beginning on December 5 until the final day of the season. Additional information on winter uphill travel can be found here.
After New Year’s Day, Short Cut chairlift will operate from 9:00 am-4:00 pm, Friday-Sunday to help move guests around the mountain. Lookout Cabin will be open 11:30 am-2:30 pm (reservations required) Thursday-Monday, and 7 days a week during peak holiday periods. As always, the My Epic app will be the best resource for up-to-the-minute lift and trail status to help you move around the mountain.
Epic Pass
Epic Passes and Epic Day Passes are still available here or can be purchased on site at our ticket windows between from 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Don’t miss your chance to lock in the best value in skiing and riding today: Epic Pass prices will increase on November 19.
Once again, lift tickets will be limited every day during the 2023/24 season in order to prioritize the guest experience. If tickets are sold out online, guests will not be able to purchase them at ticket windows – so guests planning to visit this winter are encouraged to purchase their lift access in advance, whether as an Epic Pass, an Epic Day Pass or a lift ticket.
Passes, including Epic Day Passes and pass holder benefit tickets, will not be limited. There is also no impact to guests who enroll in ski and ride school lessons that include lift access, or to employee and dependent pass access.
