NHP Issued 67 Parking Citations in Two Hours Yesterday as Crowds Flocked to Lake Tahoe’s East Shore

Nevada Highway Patrol wrote 67 citations in two hours for illegally parked cars on Lake Tahoe’s East Shore yesterday as the unseasonably warm weather brought the crowds out of self-isolation and to the Lake.

Cars lined both sides of State Route 28, near Sand Harbor, with total disregard for whether they were parked legally, or not.

“Parallel parking was a skill put to use today on SR-28 with varying degrees of success. Unfortunately, many did so illegally in a clearly posted ‘no parking’ area. Please avoid doing this. Traffic laws still exist. Tell your friends.”

The state of Nevada is currently under a stay-at-home order, set to expire 30th April. Individuals may leave their residences to provide services, perform work necessary, or obtain services from Essential Healthcare operations on behalf of themselves, pets, or those in their household, the order reads.

Nevada has had 4,805 confirmed coronavirus cases, with 225 deaths.
