California just recorded its strongest storm in modern history. The barometric pressure of the current storm system impacting California is 943 hPaโthe equivalent to the central pressure of a strong hurricane. Local news authorities reported that the storm is so powerful that it blew over a semi-truck on the Richmond Bridge yesterday.
As of this morning, California’s Sugarbowl Resort is reporting 24″, Kirkwood Mountain 20″, Palisades Tahoe 30″, and Mammoth Mountain saw a 111mph wind gust last night. Both highways I-80 and I-50 are closed at this time. Power outages are currently affecting tens of thousands of California inhabitants and are expected to continue as the storm is forecast to keep on clubbing California throughout the day.
