At 10:02 am on Saturday 29th May, 20201, a call came into Weber Dispatch that a person witnessed a plane crash into the mountain near Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Eden, UT. Units from Weber Fire District, Weber County Sheriff Department, and Ogden City Fire responded to a single-engine plane that had crashed.

“Witnesses observed a plane flying low in the area. They didn’t witness the plane go down but saw the low-flying aircraft and heard an explosion.”

– Lt. Cortney Ryan, a spokesperson with the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, told KSTU

There were two male passengers in the plane at the time of the crash. One of the occupants was found deceased. The other suffered second and third-degree burns to sixty percent of his body and was hoisted by Life Flight and flown by AirLife to the University of Utah Burn Center. He later died from his injuries. As a result of the plane crash, a fire did start, but due to the fact there was still snow on the ground, the fire crews on the scene quickly contained it.

The victims have since been identified as Devin Criddle, 26, of Draper, and Braeden Raleigh, 21, of Salt Lake City, UT.
