It looks like Ski Ward ski area in Massachusetts wants to get a head start on winter 23/24. The resort shared pictures on social media yesterday of a pile of snow it had created with its new snow gun.

Ski Ward has just installed a new Latitude 90, an all-weather snowmaking machine. No longer limited by the weather to make snow, the resort has been running the gun for 24 hours and plans to test it all week. Please don’t get too excited yet; the ground temperatures mean it has a pretty high melt rate this time of year.

After that, the staff hopes to fire the machine back up on October 1st and hopefully start the season a month early in the first week of November, with early season lesson offerings. Once we’re into fall and the weather is a little cooler, they can create much larger piles of snow.
