Solitude Mountain Resort, in Big Cottonwood Canyon, UT, announced this morning that they would not be opening as scheduled this Friday––instead, they’re aiming for next Wednesday, 24th November.

Solitude follows other Utah resorts Park City and Brian Head in postponing opening day.

We’re as excited as you are to get back on the snow, but after a stretch of warm weather, we have no choice but to delay our opening. We are optimistically targeting Tuesday, November 23.

Fortunately, temps are dropping (it’s currently snowing!), and we’ll be making snow at every available window.

Mark your calendar, watch this space, and think snow. Lodging guests affected by this change will be contacted directly.

The snowiest October in 17-years brought hope of a great season to Utah’s skiers, but that has not panned out. Lack of snow and high temperatures have hindered snowmaking efforts. Alta Ski Area, UT, remains the only resort still scheduled to open this week, on 11/20.
