Squaw Valley ski resort in California will open for the season tomorrow, November 17th, 2017.
Last year was a La Nina year and Squaw saw 728″ of snow. This year is also a La Nina year. Hopefully we get another big snow year in Tahoe!

– Squaw Valley: Gold Coast chairlift (accessed by the Funitel) from 9am-4pm

– Sparkling Cider toast at the bottom of the Funitel 8:45am

NOAA has issued a Winter Storm Warning for above 7,000′ for Squaw Valley that lasts until tomorrow morning at 9am. Here’s what they’re saying about that storm:
...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM PST FRIDAY ABOVE 7000 FEET... * WHAT...Heavy snow occurring. Plan on difficult travel conditions Expect damage to trees and power lines as well. Additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 feet above 7500 feet. Accumulations below 7500 feet are more uncertain due to variations in snow levels today, but accumulations up to 6 inches are possible this morning near 6500 feet with 6 to 12 inches between 6500 and 7500 feet. - NOAA Reno, NV today
Snow levels are forecast to be below the Gold Coast chairlift, so hopefully Gold Coast is sitting a significant amount of new snow by tomorrow morning.
