Sun Valley Resort, Idaho, plans to make some big new changes to its Seattle Ridge area on Bald Mountain. Beginning in April 2024, pending USFS approval, the resort will replace its Seattle Ridge Chairlift with a brand new detachable six-person Doppelmayr chairlift. Pete Sonntag, the Vice President and General Manager of Sun Valley Resort had this to say about the new plans:

“Seattle Ridge is home to some of Sun Valley’s most beloved intermediate, family-friendly terrain and more recently with the Sunrise expansion, some of its best off-piste terrain. Over the last five years, we’ve been able to increase the skiable terrain serviced by Seattle Ridge chair by over 200 acres, and we believe the chairlift upgrade is coming at the perfect time as we continue our investment in the mountain experience at Sun Valley.”

The new chairlift will enhance uphill capacity by over 25%, resulting in shorter wait times and more open space on the runs. It will also open up an additional 91 acres of glade skiing further expanding the terrain. This season, Sun Valley finished development and opened the new Challenger and Flying Squirrel chairlifts located in the Warm Springs base area along with the brand new trails which were part of their Warm Springs Enhancement Project. This new project is just one of many the resort plans to implement in its exciting future.
