After a record-breaking 51” of snowfall over the past seven days, Sun Valley Resort, Idaho yesterday announced the opening of Sunrise, the much-anticipated expansion plan of over 380 acres of skiable terrain, featuring expert level chutes, glades, and bowls.

The new terrain is located on the southern flank of Sun Valley’s Bald Mountain, east of the Seattle Ridge day lodge and accessed from the Seattle Ridge high-speed quad chairlift. After descending through the new Sunrise terrain, skiers and riders are whisked swiftly back up the hill by the brand new Broadway high-speed quad chairlift, which rises an impressive 1,582-vertical-feet in just over a mile. This new Doppelmayr lift opened in December 2020 and replaced Bald Mountain’s oldest operating chairlift, Cold Springs.

“Sun Valley Resort has been working on the Sunrise construction expansion for over three years, and we are elated to open up the fruits of our labor to our community, pass holders and guests.
