Sunday River, ME has received record natural snowfall totals this season with nearly three feet falling so far, the most snowfall the resort has seen before Thanksgiving in well over ten years.

With three storms in just the last week and continued snowmaking efforts, Sunday River announced the opening of South Ridge and terrain accessed by the Chondola lift for the weekend. The resort plans to continue terrain expansion as weather allows with snowmaking. Other terrain increases included Spruce Peak, that added a variety of terrain for Thanksgiving Weekend.

Another foot or more is still in the forecast, making this truly a SNOWvember to remember. The weekend was filled with 6 lifts, 5 peaks, and over 300 acres of open terrain, providing a Thanksgiving for the record books.

Sunday River opened for the season on October 19 with weekend-only access, for daily operations on November 9, and presently has terrain available on the Locke and Barker Mountain peaks.
“Everyone is thrilled about the snow. Conditions are excellent and we are expanding open terrain quickly. Between the improvements to our snowmaking system over the summer and nearly three feet of natural snow this season, the 2018-2019 season is off to a great start,” says Sunday River’s Director of Communications, Karolyn Castaldo.
