Turnagain Pass, AK Backcountry Report: We headed up to Turnagain Pass from Girdwood, AK today for a quick skin and ski. Cloudy to partly cloudy skies with some nice sun bursts got us on the trail with high hopes. About 3 inches of “new”, wet, slushy snow covered the slopes but didn’t cover the trees. Spring is here in AK for sure. After about 40 minutes of skinning we reached treeline at 2,300 feet and stopped. Clouds had […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | April 7, 2014 1 Comment
Alyeska, AK Conditions Report: Slushy Goodness Everywhere | Photo Tour: Alyeska ski resort in Girdwood, Alaska got hot, slushy, and fun today. Everything was skiable and speed was your friend. We alternated hitting the North Face (which got softer and more fun as the day went on) and goofing off in the Upper and Lower Bowls. You can find about 15 jumps from top to bottom in the bowls and it’s a riot. […] Conditions Report Miles Clark | April 6, 2014 0 Comments
VIDEO: Valdez, AK = HUGE Avalanche & HUGE Clean Up Two weeks ago, an avalanche came down onto the only road connecting Valdez, AK to the rest of the world: the Richardson Highway. The avalanche was massive and stopped the Lowe river creating an enormous lake that was 60 feet deep and half a mile long. They’ve been cleaning this mess up for the past two weeks and they’ve got a lot left to do. The Clean Up! How does a massive avalanche get cleaned up? Sage Cattibriga-Alosa Charging Alaska in TGRโs โWay of Life” I donโt usually think of Sage as a huge risk taker in Alaska. Iโve always enjoyed his way of finding safe, challenging lines lacking in no-fall-zones and รผber high consequence. So much for that… This past Spring, Sage changed, a switch flipped, his confidence and skill took over. Sage goes head first into no-fall-zones and huge consequence lines (check out the drop in at 3:30!). You can tell in this entire video […] Miles Clark | October 15, 2013 2 Comments
Tim Durtschi in AK = โThe Plan Is, There Is No Plan!” Weโre not really sure who says it, but it really made us laugh to hear this exchange in the video: “So, whatโs the plan?” โThe plan is, there is no plan!” It even got the guy who asked the question laughing. Can you even imagine? ย A perfect sunny blue day in AK ripping around with Sage and you are in […] SnowBrains | August 23, 2013 2 Comments

Valdez, AK as seen from Meteorite Peak Valdez looks very rugged from up here. ย But, when youโre standing on top of Meteorite, you arenโt exactly enjoying the view fully. ย You know youโre gonna have to ski it eventually. ย Itโs a helluva run. Miles Clark | April 5, 2013 0 Comments
