VIDEOS: Alta, UT Gets Biggest Storm of the Season:

Alta, UT yesterday. photo: alta

Alta, Utah just got hit by their biggest storm of the season. They got 34″ of new snow out of this storm and it’s still coming down. Alta now has a 95″ base and they’ve gotten 309″ of snowfall this season. Our reporter Aaron Rice was in the Alta backcountry yesterday and couldn’t believe how deep it was. Winter Chalk: Alta Conditions Update + Photo Tour

After receiving over 6 feet of snow over Christmas week, the skiing continues to rip at Alta with the start of the New Year. Chalk, Powder, and Flips @ Alta, UT: Conditions Update and Photo Tour

While the West Coast is off to a slow start, and California continues to lack any signs of snow whatsoever, the conditions at Alta are absolutely ripping. With 40 inches of blower snow in the past week and cold temps the coverage is great and the snow is holding up fantastically. Patrol opened the Bad News Cliffs for the first time since the storm, which led to plenty of fresh turns and deep landings. […]
