Alta, UT Conditions Report: High and Dry, With Snow on the Way It’s been high and dry here in Alta for over a week now. But luckily the sun is low angle and the snow has remained good. The groomers have been soft and fast all day. There has been enough snow to open backside and tower ten traverse and there are good chalky turns to be found out there. For the weekend there is a storm arriving that should be in the 6-12 inch range. In Alta it is generally frowned upon to ski the tower ten traverse and the ski school traverse on backside. However, with low snow conditions right now, they are our […] Conditions Report Aaron Rice | December 10, 2014 2 Comments

We are sorry you had to miss skiing today! – Alta” This early in the season, Alta is likely understaffed and just doesn’t have enough patrollers to perform avalanche control in a […] Industry News ameliatraynor | November 24, 2014 0 Comments

NOAA: 6″ of Lake-Effect Snow for Utah Today NOAA is calling for 6″ of snow for the upper elevations of the Cottonwood Canyons today. 2014/15 Utah Ski Resort Opening Dates: Utah is one of the most consistent places on Earth for snowfall. Last year, Alta had what they consider a “rough, below average year.” They still got 432 inches of snow… Which is more than most places ever get and it still put Alta in the 10th spot for most snow in North America in 2013/14. Utah sits in a unique spot for an El Nino year. Utah is far south enough to potentially do great in an El Nino year and North and Central enough to still get winter storms from the North. This is no secret to Utah snow freaks. This is the general pattern that makes Utah’s magic work. They’re someone on the track of both southern and northern storm. We don’t […] Industry News SnowBrains | October 9, 2014 0 Comments
