SASS Argentina skiing

The Top 5 Ski Resorts in South America:

South America is huge and the Andes mountain range is the longest mountain range in the world with the tallest mountain on Earth outside the Himalayas. The good skiing in the Andes is mostly in the south and can be phenomenal. On the right year, it can be non-stop snowstorms in the south and incredibly long, smooth descents in the north. South America is raw, rad, and wild. If the snow isn’t just right, the culture most certainly is. Seven nights a week there is a raging party waiting for you at Wilkenny, Dusk, or any of the other of the many night clubs in town. Combine these clubs with how good looking Argentines are and […]

portillo powder chile

Chile and Argentina are getting hammered right now. Some weather men are saying this may be the largest storm to hit central Chile in the past 5 years. Originally, central Chile had 19-feet of snow forecast in 4 days this week. It likely won’t add up that high, but it’s still gonna be deep and already is. It’s starting to appear that El Nino is kicking in South America and this very well may be the year to get yourself down to Chile & Argentina and start taking advantage of it. SASS Global Travel‘s flagship SASS Argentina program is poised and ready to get you down here and stuff you into the big powder […]

So, no matter what, you’re richer in Argentina than you are in the USA. Now, you have to consider that Argentina’s black market (they call it the blue market) exchange rate is 1 USD = 15 Argentine Pesos. 15 pesos! That’s insane. With the blue dollar, you’re […]

Catedral Ski Resort in Bariloche, Argentina OPENS for the Season Today

Catedral ski resort in Bariloche, Argentina got a solid snowstorm yesterday that was enough to open them up for the season today. They were hoping to be open on June 20th, but had to wait a bit longer for the snow to fill in enough to make things right. Another reason they felt confident about opening today was the forecast. The forecast is showing a foot of new snow in the next 2 days. Catedral is our favorite place to ski in South America and we’ll be reporting at least weekly from this area all summer.

2015 Opening Dates for South American Ski Resorts:

Portillo, Chile, southern hemisphere

Ski season has begun in South America! Corralco ski resort in Chile opened for the season last week to solid early season coverage. Right now, the southern ski resorts are looking good snow-wise and all planning to open within the month. Many of the northern ski resorts, especially the ones in Chile are completely devoid of snow right now. If you’re planning your trip to South America soon, you might want to start leaning towards the south and think about calling up SASS Argentina who does ski/snowboard trips in […]
