The season is slowly coming to an end but there is still great skiing and boarding to be had for those not willing to hang up their ski gear just yet. If you are wondering which resorts will be open all the way until May or even June, check out our piece on the top 15 resorts for late spring skiing.

Which resorts have the most snow right now? Here is the top 7 for the European  Alps for week 16 of 2024. We are only including resorts that are still open as of April 16. As many resorts on this list will be closing this coming weekend, this concludes our weekly report for the 23/24 season.

Equal #6 Flaine/Le Grand Massif, France

Le Grand Massif in France is located in the Haute-Savoie region and is one of France’s largest interconnected ski areas. The resort faces the famous Mont Blanc and boasts 151 ski runs for beginners and experts alike, serviced by 64 modern ski lifts. The resort of Flaine will be open for spring skiing until April 21, 2024, while the other areas in Le Grand Massif are now closed.

Equal #6 Grande Motte Glacier/Tignes-Val d’Isère, L’Espace Killy, France

The Grande Motte Glacier at Tignes is situated at 3,032 meters (9,948 feet) and is recording 4.2 meters (13.8 feet) of snowdepth. Together with Val d’Isère, the resort is known as Espace Killy, after French ski racer Jean-Claude Killy, and boasts 160 runs stretching across 300km (187.5 miles). Tignes-Val d’Isère will be open for spring skiing until May 5, 2024.

#5 Les Arcs/Paradiski, France

Les Arcs, France, is in #5 this week with 4.3 meters (14.1 feet) of snow depth.  The French resort is connected with La Plagne and Peisy Vallandry and together forms the Paradiski ski area, the second largest interconnected ski area in the world with 265 miles (425km) of groomed runs serviced by 53 lifts and cable cars, including a two-level cable car that fits 200 people. The resort will be open until April 27.

#4 Alpe d’Huez, France

At #4 this week is Alpe d’Huez with 4.6 meters (15.1 feet) of snow depth.The highest peak in the  Alpe d’Huez ski area in France is the Pic Blanc, reaching an altitude of 3,330 meters (10,925 feet). The ski run from Pic Blanc is the longest black run in Europe, called Sarenne, which is 16 kilometers (10 miles) long. Ski lifts at  Alpe d’Huez will stay open until April 21.

#3 Portes du Soleil, France

Montriond-Avoriaz in the Portes du Soleil ski area in France is claiming the #3 spot for its last week of the season. End of season festivities have been going wild at Avoriaz and will continue until Sunday, with pirate parties and events at Folie Douce. Portes du Soleil consists of in total 12 resorts, with Montriond-Avoriaz on the French side together with Morzine and Les Gets while on the Swiss side you have Morgins and Champery.

#2 Saas-Fee, Switzerland

Saas-Fee in Switzerland is unchanged at 4.8 meters (15.7 feet) this week, moving the resort up into #2. Be quick if you want to visit as Saas-Fee will close on April 21. The resort will ring out the season with a party that is a mile long, leading from the Skihütte Burgener via the Black Bull Arena to the Zur Mühle restaurant, Hotel Bristol, and Hotel Mistral. The party starts at 2 p.m. Extra busses have been scheduled for the expected party revelers.

#1 Stubaier Glacier, Austria

The Glacier at Stubai, Austria, leads the list with 5.05 meters (16.6 feet) of snow, up 20 centimeters (8 inches) from last week. The  Stubaier Glacier is Austria’s largest glacier skiing area and is known for its excellent freeride terrain, with 14 dedicated freeride runs and an off-piste map. The groomed run from the top at Wildspitz at 3,210 meters down to the base at Mutterberg 1,750 meters is a staggering 10 km (6.25 miles) and provides a nice thigh burner. The glacier will be open for skiing until May 20, 2024.
