Winter Weather Advisory for Washington = 6-12” Forecasted Tonight

NOAA has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Northern Washington state.  6-12” of snow is forecasted tonight.  Snow levels will rise from 3,000’ to 6,000’ during this storm.

SLOPES OF THE CASCADES LATE THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY...

.A VERY MOIST WEATHER SYSTEM WILL BRING INCREASING SNOW TO THE
HIGHER ELEVATIONS ALONG THE EAST SLOPES OF THE CASCADES LATE THIS
AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO
4 PM PST THURSDAY ABOVE 3500 FEET...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPOKANE HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY ABOVE 3500 FEET FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT
FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 PM PST THURSDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 12 INCHES...HIGHEST ACCUMULATIONS NORTH
  OF LAKE CHELAN. RISING SNOW LEVELS WILL LIMIT ACCUMULATIONS
  SOUTH OF LAKE CHELAN WITH 3 TO 6 INCHES FOR HIGHWAY 2 OVER
  STEVENS PASS AND 1 TO 3 INCHES FOR HIGHWAY 97 OVER BLEWETT PASS
  TONIGHT BEFORE SNOW CHANGES TO RAIN THURSDAY MORNING.

* TIMING: LIGHT SNOW WILL DEVELOP LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING
  AND THEN INCREASE IN INTENSITY OVERNIGHT INTO THURSDAY.

* SNOW LEVEL: TONIGHT...3000 FEET. THURSDAY...NORTH OF LAKE CHELAN
  3000 FEET IN THE MORNING RISING TO 4000-5000 FEET IN THE
  AFTERNOON. SOUTH OF LAKE CHELAN RISING TO 4500-6000 FEET
  THURSDAY MORNING.
